A study on pattern of skull fractures due to head injury

Background: Skull fractures are very serious type of trauma occurring in 15% severe head injuries, and there is a consistent association between the presence cranial fracture higher incidence intracranial lesions, neurological deficit, poor outcome. Objectives were to study various patterns skull associated injuries. Methods: A prospective case series 50 patients with due injury was selected from December 2021 2022 at Srinivas Institute Medical Sciences & Hospital, Mangalore. Out cases, majority found be co-existing but few cases showed alone. Among patients, clinical profile, radiological profile undertaken. Appropriate descriptive statistics used analyze findings draw inferences. Results: There 34 males 16 females. Maximum age group 31-40 years. The common cause road traffic accident (70%) followed by assault (22%); Of fractures, linear (66%) commonest comminuted then depressed fracture. Common injuries extradural hematoma (42%) EDH intracerebral contusion (32%). Conclusions: causes Road Traffic Accidents, blunt weapons falls height. affected may or not
